I am NOT an expert on Asian antiques, but from the limited research I've done, you are bidding on what I believe to be an antique Chinese medical model or modesty doll. Doctors in China during the Qing Dynasty (which lasted until around 1912) would use the dolls for women patients to maintain their modesty by pointing to the parts they were having pain or illness in on the naked doll instead of disrobing or pointing or showing on their own body. Appears to be made.../expertly carved from some sort of natural material. She is EXQUISITELY made, she has a bracelet on her arm that actually moves, and she has the most beautiful face. There are some dark lines, including thru her hair, but appear to be flaws in the original piece of material and not due to any damage or abuse to the figurine. The wood platform she is laying on is made especially for her. She measures approx. 10" inches long. Notice her tiny feet which show the custom of foot binding and her tiny little shoes! This comes from my parent's smoke-free home, which has been downsized. These lovely things are being put on eBay by an experienced seller for us to hopefully go onto the next lucky owner who will appreciate it as much as we have for many more years to come!
