RARE LATE 18TH c - EARLY 19TH c AUTHENTIC AUBUSSON TAPESTRY OF JESUS PILLOWFor your consideration, I am offering a rare Aubusson Tapestry of Jesus on the Cross. This is from the late 1700’s to early 1800’s. I have seen a lot of Aubusson tapestries in my day, but never one like this, especially not one this size. This one has many repairs as would be expected from a tapestry this old. I have fused the back with a fabric that will prevent any further separations. The Aubu...sson is wool and silk. It measures 11.5” x 16”. The colors are very muted. I used an antique French trim around the Tapestry. The front of the fabric is brown silk while the back is done in brown velvet. The pillow is finished with a neutral cord. I added two crosses on the top corners. If that’s a little too much for you, you have my blessing to cut them off. The pillow measures approx. 18” x 23”. There is a hidden zipper closure for you convenience and the entire pillow is lined for extra durability. This one of a kind pillow was newly created combining the old (Aubusson and trim around the Aubusson) with the new (all the other elements). It was intended to last for many more centuries and passed down to future generations. A true Heirloom in waiting. A piece of art and history. It comes from a smoke free home.
