Women ' S Vintage Titus Calypsomatic 7846 Diver W/Gilt Dial, Patina, Orig Bracelet

This rarely seen women's vintage Titus Calypsomatic 7846 has a black "T SWISS MADE T" signed dial that is in lovely aged condition. The original tritium on the dial and hands, which appears to remain fully intact and no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, has aged naturally to a darker hue. The gilt lettering and hash marks remains vibrant. In my humble opinion there is nothing more magical when it comes to watches than a gilt dial. The black ...bezel, which does not rotate, has faded slightly and is in excellent condition. The heavy duty all stainless steel case is in wonderful shape showing minor wear and no visibly noticeable dents or dings. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "WATERPROOF NON MAGNETIC SWISS INCABLOC STAINLESS STEEL" with "SOLVIL et TITUS" followed by "GENEVE" and "7846" stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is stamped "16236." The crystal shows light scratching.
The 21 jewels Swiss made "SOLVIL & TITUS" and "GENEVE" stamped automatic movement with quickset date function is pristine, runs strong, keeps accurate time and the roulette date wheel (black on even, red on odd) rolls over as it should at approximately 12 am. The quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20.5 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the sharply threaded, non-screwdown original Titus emblem stamped crown 39 full revolutions the movement had an impressive power reserve of approximately 41 hours. The crown winds beautifully. Given that this watch is over 50 years old and considering it's unknown service history (it has been well taken care of over the years as there are three visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back), a complete overhaul is recommended.
This watch measures approximately 26 mm excluding the crown, approximately 29 mm including the crown and approximately 12 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 7.5 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 9.5 mm. This watch comes on its original stainless steel "TITUS" stamped oyster bracelet. It's in very good condition with little stretch.
Although this watch runs strong and keeps accurate time, given its vintage nature and unknown service history a full overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.
