An antique flame mahogany knife box with a fitted interior, George III or IV period. One of the more ornate knife boxes I have seen with inlay and marquetry both to the exterior and interior. Woods used other than mahogany appear to be satinwood, tulipwood, ebony, and possibly one other type. Good antique condition overall with a glossy finish. Wear as seen in photos. To be thorough, wear including : flaking varnish, repaired pieces of veneer throughout, small missing areas of veneer, ...scratches/bumps, lid slightly overhangs left side.
