Absolutely gorgeous and without a single condition issue or problem. A simply glorious piece of early to late 19th century American folk art antique hand forged iron metal sculpture of fauna, in this case a graceful swimming swan, made out of what could possibly be old, found iron objects, even possibly iron items destined for war or for everyday use in the home, barn or field. The surfaces are all original, featuring heavily pitted, naturally oxidized iron surfaces that showcase and highlight its veritable antique pedigree. This is no imposter or later reproduction or facsimile of the real thing but rather the real deal and the real McCoy. Early to mid 19th century American hands forged this iron sculpture of fauna and not others much later down the line in time, when Americana and American folk art were both suddenly in vogue, coveted and highly sought after, commanding unprecedented high prices at auction. It was initially conceptualized, visualized and then plastically realized with fire, heat and a blacksmith's hammer on an anvil, with real care, affection, purposeful intent and with gifted artistry and skill. Just a wonderful, period, antique piece of early to mid-19th century antique American folk art and primitive hand forged iron sculpture. The iron swan is no cannonball, it's so gracefully accomplished, you would suppose it could actually float on water. Enormously delightful. It won't disappoint. Top shelf.
