Description:This Taxco, Mexico, artisan pin/ pendant features a sterling silver medallion with a highly detailed Aztec calendar. The Eagle hallmark denotes this as a true-vintage piece.'The Aztec calendar is the calendar system that was used by the Aztecs as well as other Pre-Columbian peoples of central Mexico. The calendar consisted of a 365-day calen...dar cycle called xiuhpohualli (year count and agricultural calendar) and a 260-day ritual cycle called tonalpohualli (day count and sacred calendar). These two cycles together formed a 52-year "century, " sometimes called the "calendar round".'This piece is a beautiful example of style and craftsmanship!
