Va...clav Hollar, known in England as Wenceslaus or Wenceslas and in Germany as Wenzel Hollar (1607-1677), was a reknowned Bohemian etcher, who lived in England for much of his life. He was born in Prague, and died in London, being buried at St Margaret's Church, Westminster. His oeuvre is vast, but difficult to find in early impressions. Ioan / Jan Peeters I (1624-1677) was a Flemish Baroque painter who specialised in seascapes and shipwrecks known as Zeekens (small seascapes). Brother of Jacob Peeters.
Condition: Very good, given age. No margins. Slight paper loss in lower left corner, remargined. Some remains of paper from previous attachment on rear. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
