Gent’s 18s, coin silver, key wound, savonette, hunting case pocket watch, William Ellery grade, made by the American Watch Company, Waltham, Ma. Circa early 1880’s.
DESCRIPTIONCase: 55mm diameter, 18s, coin silver, four leaf, key wound and pendant or lever set, with ball pendant with coin shaped pusher above and round bow placed at the three position (savonette) opposite the case hinge. the oute...r covers have a central foliate designed pattern of engraving, one side with banner for the owner's initials (bank). The interior of the cove warrants the case as coin silver. the watch is accompanied by a modern keychain with watch key and fob from the Bitterman Bros. Jewelry Store-Evansville, Indiana(notes). There is a cuvette with a single key winding aperture. Dial: white enameled dial with Roman hours, closed minute track, subsidiary seconds @6, steel spade hand with a fractured hour hand and the dial unsigned
Condition:
Case: crystal broken. Coin silver with both outer covers having moderate amount of dark oxidation of the coin silver. Dial: Unsigned, but no hairline fractures. broken hour hand.
