Parker introduced redesigned Challenger, Vacumatic, and Duofold pens in the early 1940's. Although these pens bore famous and long-used names they were very different: the Duofolds were vertically striped and either Vacumatic or button fill. The Challenger and Vacumatic desk pens were no longer convertible to pocket p...ens as they did not have cap threads on the barrels and the sections had a new, futuristic design. The desk base is solid brass and quite heavy for its size. It measures 3.25 x 3.75 inches and has grooves on each side of the surface. The pen holder, which is the "pop-out" design developed for desk pens of this era, sits on a raised, 1.5 inch square. The desk pen looks very similar to Vacumatic desk pens but is a button filler and has a visulated section. The nib is a 14K Parker Pen and has a fine point. The pen has been restored with a new pen sac.
