This is a fine example of a Newlyn School Arts and Crafts pyramid form, hinged lid inkwell. This design is attributed to John Drew Mackenzie. The sides are embossed with a cuttlefish and octopi. The hinge is tight and true. The base is stamped NEWLYN.
Size: 11cm square X 8cm high.
Considering its age it is in very good all round condition, free from dents, scratches, corrosion or repairs on the surface but has some small dents in the base as per photos. It has a warm patina a...nd has not been polished for some time so that the purchaser has the option of polishing or leaving as it is.
