This is an incredibly well-made reeland is known the world over for its quality, durability, and workmanship.Considered by many informed anglers as one of the finest deep-sea reels everbuilt!Made of German Silver (65% c...opper, 18% nickel, 17% zinc) withmetal reinforced black hard rubber (ebonite) side plates, it’s in VERY, VERY GOOD condition showing some minor finishloss here and there. Being sold “AS-IS.” The reel was manufactured in the U.S.A.by the Edward vom Hofe Company, which was established in 1867. The reel bearsthe Patent date of May 20, 1902. According to an informed source, the reel was manufactured in 1929. The reel has a serial number of V134 on one edge of the reel foot.This reel features well ahead of its time a black wood handleknob, a leather thumb brake, metal reinforced hard rubber side plates, a stardrag, on/off anti-reverse/free spool, and a Fish On alarm, the “clicker.”The reel measures 4 1/4" in diameter and 3 1/4" across the very heavy duty side plates.Gear ratio is 3:1 for high torque/power cranking, Linecapacity is rated at approximately 450 Yds. 15 thread linen line, which is 45lb. test … 3 lbs./thread.
