This is a set of two matching (but not identical) Chinese celadon-glazed overglaze hand painted oval lobed/ruffled bowls. To the best of my knowledge and identification through internet research, the marks on these are from the Tongzhi reign (1862-1873). They are decorated in overglaze enamel with various flowers including peonies, peaches or plums, and grasshoppers. The rims on both bowls have several chips and there is some loss of paint on the interior (mainly flower stems) an...d loss of gilding on the rims. Each bowl measures approximately 9 1/4 inches long by 6 3/4 inches wide at the widest parts, and they are approximatley 2 3/4" tall. They are somewhat thick and quite heavy. Each bowl weighs approximately 1 pound, 12 ounces. Note: the photos were taken outside and the color is washed out in a few photos. The color is most accurate in the 2nd, 5th, 9th and and 11th-12th photos. These will be carefully wrapped with lots of padding and bubble wrap and will be shipped from a pet and smoke free home. Thanks for looking!
