Here we have a pair of Vintage Antique Primitive Gifford Wood Co. 542-13" Cast Iron Ice/Hay Tongs. They are in excellent working condition with signs of normal use, wear, and age. The Hinge/joint is a little loose, but it's also really solid and not coming apart any time soon. I think it's actually supposed to be that way. We usually clean off all the rust on things like this but I thought they looked pretty good this way so I left them as we found them. When closed they measure 14 1/2..." tall.When the jaws are open all the way the opening is 14 1/4" wide. I'm not sure what to measure to get 13", which is clearly marked on one side of the tongs. If you know what the 13" refers to please let me know. I'd really appreciate it. Feel free to ask questions.
