Up for sale is a beautiful antique, victorian era, pastel portrait painting of a young female subject wearing a headband and ruffled dress. This oval portrait is executed in pastel and remains housed in its original gesso gold wood frame which measures 19 x 23 inches. The work is unsigned but the quality is very good, the subject has excellent eyes and soft lips while the background has a nice blend of colors. The condition is very good as it has never been removed from the frame and t...he imperfections visible on the closer taken images show splotches which is just present on the underside of the glass. I just chose not to remove the work to clean the underside of the glass. The original gallery label is verso along with what could have been the name of either the woman or artist who painted the work. The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty of this fine antique painting but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
