FINE RARE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SOLIDSTERLING SILVER VESTA CASE COMBINED WICK HOLDER – MONOGRAM TO FRONT – GILTINTERIOR - HIGH QUALITY - WILLIAM HENRY DEE – LATE MID-VICTORIAN ERA -HALLMARKED LONDON 1874 - GOOD CONDITION - HIGHLY COLLECTABLE!On offer is this fine rare antique Victorian solidsterling silver vesta case or match safe with a combined wick holder. The case is in elegant mirror finish silverwith a monogram attractively engraved to the front - please see the photos.Th...e hinged lid flips open to reveal a gilt interior with a hingedstriker and the tube for the wick which is fed through by the knurled wheel to oneside. The striker pad flips up and hasthe engraving 'JONES 23, BOUT DES CAPUCINES'. Whether this is the retailer or the owner is unclear.This highly collectablepiece is in a good gauge of silver and was crafted by William Henry Dee in thelate mid-Victorian era, hallmarked for London 1874. It is in good antique condition overall, in my opinion, especially considering it is 146 years old. You can imagine what a wonderful, novel addition it would be to anycollection - there aren't many of these Victorian cases about!Andremember, collecting silver is a fascinating hobby. As a welcome distraction in these troubleddays, why not start your own collection of antique silver? It need not be expensive and you will havesomething to value and pass on when better times return. Rare antique pieces such as this are a super investmentfor the future!

Pleasenote I do not do valuations. HALLMARKS: Henry William Dee; London 1874APPROXIMATEMEASUREMENTS/WEIGHT: Thiscase is about 6.2cm by 3.2cm and 1.3cm depth. It weighs just over 54g. CONDITION: As noted, it is in good antiquecondition overall, especially considering it is 146 years old and seems to havebeen used for its intended purpose. There are the usual signs of wear commensurate with age and use, lightscratches, wear/dirt to the gilt interior, etc. The only small point to note is that there is a little shallow dent ofabout 7mm in length to the base of the tubular part. Please do look at the photos as well for condition. Any dark marks, etc are reflections or bitsof age-related patina.THANK YOU FOR LOOKING P.S.
