The Nimba or N'mba mask of Guinea are some of the largest masks in Africa. They represent the idea fertile woman with exaggerated pendulous breast, beautiful coiffure, closed eyes, and with a serene face. They use the mask to evoke the goddess of fertility - Simo and is used during the rituals like harvest, birth, marriages, and other joyful celebrations. This example was purchased at an auction from the estate of an avid African collector who passed away in early 2000’s. I have not ...have it personally inspected or verified for authenticity so I cannot personally guarantee such. Buyer to make sure this item lives up to your expectation. It measures approximately 28” high and 8” across the base. Appears to be carved out of a single piece of wood. A beautiful piece.
