Offered is an original circa 1942-44 "VICTORY SPEED 35 MILES, " highway sign only. (Not the 1942 California license plate ensemble).Size is 14 1/2" x 19 3/4" x 1/4". Sign shows aging with some stains, scratches and scuff marks, but makes a wonderful display item for any WWII homefront or transportation collection. During World War II on the homefront, they produced street and highway signs made of wood as other metals were rationed items and used for war materials during the war.&...nbsp;As of 1945, aluminum and steel signs first came on the scene, pryor to that wood, stone and cast iron signs were the main use. So, it be very possible the old wooden signs would have been around for a few years until replaced by the metal ones. Automobile tires, car bumpers and steering wheels were also made of wood materials. Winning bidder will pay $20 shipping.
