Here are three rare recovered artifacts from the mid-air collision between B-17G #42-31324 & AT-6A #41-19567 on 2-25-44. It occurred near the Old Las Vegas Army Air Base which is now Nellis AFB, in North Las Vegas, Nevada. It was the worst loss of life accident at that base during the War. The AT-6 was making mock diving attacks on the B-17 when it struck the bomber just aft of the cockpit. Eleven of the twelve occupants of the bomber and the pilot of the Trainer were ki...lled.The sole survivor was the tail-gunner of the bomber who fell 6, 000 feet in the tail turret which windmilled to earth.
