Rare large CF Monroe "Belle Ware" Jewel Box with large pink rose blossoms and buds and a crimson red silk liner. HAND SIGNED BELLE WARE it was only made for a very short time at the Wave Crest Factory In Meriden, Ct. and is quite scarce. Tiny beads of glass were fused to the surface after it was hand painted; creating a surface that resembles thousands of tiny ice crystals. Measures 6 3/4 inches wide by 5 inches tall. The box was a gift to me many years ago by a former employee o...f the CF Monroe factory. It has some small spots of loss to the applied glass beading on the back of the boxes lower portion, just below the center of the brass collar. There is also a small amount of very light soil along the lower rim. I was afraid to clean it. It is attractive the way it is, and I see no need for any cleaning other than an occasional soft dust cloth. The lining is a perfect deep red and the box has no damage other than the loss of the surface beads mentioned above. Selling slightly as found....A lovely, very unique piece.
