Japanese Meiji period Totai shippo cloisonne porcelain vase, exquisite, delicate
No damage and a really beautiful piece
Pretty flower rondels in turquoise and mauve and blue and black. Lovely subtle colours5" tall by 2.75inches wide at the widest part.
This form of cloisonne is created on a porcelain (or other ceramic) base. The cloisons were applied to the base and the enamels subsequently. The method was only attempted for a short period - late 19th century to early 20th... - and only in Japan.
This is a Meiji period piece.
