This auction is for this very fine Antique Elgin 0s 15j Gr. 227 14KT SOLID GOLD Pocket Watch circa 1903. 31 grams (17 grams is movement and dial)The pocket watch has been tested over the last few days and is running, keeping good time. Through my evaluation, I have found the watch to be about 30 seconds slow over 24 hours. That comes to about 1.2 seconds per hour on the slow side. Not bad.Please note, however, a couple times, I moved it a certain way and it paused. This suggests that i...t needs a cleaning.The physical condition of the watch is very fine with light use and very light surface scratches here and there. The approximate gold melt value of 14 grams (case weight) of 14KT Gold is $342.45 at avg. price of gold at $1300/Troy ounce. This is simply an idea of melt and doesn’t account for the fact that it is a working 15j watch.
