For your consideration is this exceedingly rare U.S.S. Brooklyn Medal from the citizens of Brooklyn, NY to sailors (and a few Marines) aboard the ship while they participated in the destruction of the spanish fleet. This is the second of these medals we've had the opportunity to sell in the past 20 years and there is likely only a few dozen of these in existence. This one is missing the original components (eyelet, ribbon, bar) and is being sold as found, uncleaned. It has lived a hard life and ...has various dents, dings, and other imperfections outside of missing the original components. It is a very large medal (about twice the size of a normal period medal) and would make an excellent addition to any U.S.S. Brooklyn collection, or make a great "filler" for those of you waiting to find an original complete medal. The last one we sold was complete and in fair condition - it went for $700. We are asking less than half for this piece.
