James W. Queen & Company was an optical and scientific instrument company located at 924 Chestnut Stree...t, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with a branch office in New York City, and active in various forms from 1853-1925, and subsequently as Gray Instrument Company until 1952.
In 1853 Mr. James W. Queen began in the city of Philadelphia a small business in optical and philosophical apparatus. In 1859 he joined with Mr. Samuel L. Fox, and under their personal supervision and management, the business steadily developed. In 1870 Mr. James W. Queen retired, and Mr. S.L. Fox continued the business under the title of James W. Queen & Co. It continued under this name until 1893, when it was incorporated as Queen & Co. In 1912 the company was reorganized as the Queen-Gray Co. by John G. Gray and continued as such until Mr. Gray's death in 1925, after which it became the Gray Instrument Company.
   *TERMS OF AUCTION & DISCLAIMER*

Please take a few moments to review the following, I have done my best to keep it brief and simple.
 Settlement

The winning bidder will receive an invoice within 24 hours from the closing of the auction.

I set the auction postage calculator for US Postal Service Priority Mail, Parcel Post or First Class service. The difference between these services is cost and the time it takes for the Post Office to make delivery
 1)   The cost for shipping a package depends on the distance of travel, the size and the weight of the package. Accordingly, there can be a significant difference between the cost for shipping US Postal Service Priority Mail, US Postal Service Parcel Post, US Postal Service and US Postal Service Flat Rate. This is an unknown until the auction is over and the distance between the buyer and seller is determined. The amount listed in the auto e-mail invoice sent right after the auction ends is not able to take these variables into account.
2)   The calculator does not price shipping if a bidder wins multiple auctions and shipping is combined
3)   The size of the US Postal Service’s flat rate boxes are limited to a maximum 5 ½” tall many items won’t fit in the box. Additionally, for shorter distances priority, parcel post and first class cost less than the flat rate.
PLEASE DO NOT MAKE PAYMENT BEFORE YOU RECEIVE AN INVOICE UNLESS YOU DO NOT WANT A CHANGE FROM WHAT WAS PROGRAMED  AT AUCTION SET-UP

 Communications-

I attempt to respond to all communications within 48 hours.

 Payment Expectations

In my experience 99.9 % of winning bidders pay promptly, for the remaining 1/10 of 1%. Once an invoice has been sent to the winning bidder; if payment is not received within 4 days after the date of the invoice, a non-paying bidders notice will be filed.

  Shipping

The winning bidder pays actual shipping costs only.

There are no handling charges, the amount on the shipping label will equal the amount on the your invoice

The amount on the invoice, sent to the winning bidder, is the shipping cost based on your zip code, the weight and the dimensions of the package.
All items shipped via US Postal Service Priority Mail, US Postal Service Parcel Post or First Class Mail. I make every attempt to minimize the cost of shipping. The calculator made available at the USPS website is what I use to figure the actual postage costs for each auction.

For delivery to a Country other than the United States of America- International Buyers

 Please Note:

Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges, these charges are the buyer’s responsibility.
Please check with your country’s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying.
These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when you pick the item up – do not confuse them for additional shipping charges.
I cannot mark merchandise values below cost or mark items as ‘gifts’ on the customs declarations form - US and International government regulations prohibit this behavior.

US Postal Service EMS tracking required when the payment including postage exceeds $75.00.

I have learned the hard way that a seller must have 3rd party evidence of delivery to buyer’s doorstep or risk loss of funds in the event that the buyer files a dispute for non delivery.

Paypal users please note that I ship to the Paypal confirmed address. If you need to have the item shipped to an unverified address, I must be notified before payment is made.
