Early 20thcentury German 800 silver cigarette case, Louis Kuppenheim 1908 casedHere is ahighly collectible German 800 standard silver cigarette case marked for thepremier maker Louis KuppenheimIt is of rectangularform with rounded corners and edges, it has engine turned decoration ofalternating bands.It has a pushbutton release of a collet set blue paste cabochon cut. There is agilt interior and is engraved XMAS 1908It is stillhouse in its original case of red velvet, and it is branded... in the inside for BachruchA which is for the prominent jeweler and retailer Antal Bachruch of Budapest. The case is markedto the inside edge with three marks: 800 – silverstandard mark 800/1000Crown andCrescent – German silver markMakers mark –a script LK used by Louis Kuppenheim between 1901 – 1910 Length – 8.7cm / 3.4 inches Weight – 108grams / 3.47 ozt Condition –overall very good, there is obvious wear and tear from age to the case but itis structurally sound. The case closes securely but it does ‘smile’ a littlebit along the edge. There is a small section of silver missing around thecollet set push button release. Case shows sign of use with a few bumps to the surfaceand some softening the lines at the edges. Interior has some discolourationfrom age, (not restored). The section of pin might be considered a bit sharp.Elastic is old but perishing.
