Here we have a Vintage CHAMPION TOOL CO. Blacksmith Metalworking 1-1/4" Cross Peen Pein Hammer Head. The company was founded in 1886 when George B. DeArment, ablacksmith from Evansburg, PA began hand-forging farrier's tools and sellingthem from town to town out of the back of a wagon. The business eventuallybecame known as the Champion Bolt and Clipper Company. In 1904, the company moved to a largefacility Meadville, PA and added nippers, pinchers and open-end wrenches ...to itsproduct line. DeArment’s two sons, Almon W. and J. Howard DeArment, becamepartners in the company in 1911 and expanded the product line again to includehammers. This hammer head is marked (hard to read) by the maker and also 1 1/4. This blacksmith - metalworking hammer head is in good used condition. There are a couple of small chips at the hammer face edge. The head is approx.5" Long. It has a 1-1/4" square hammer face surface on one end and a 1-1/4" L wedge end. It has a very good eye that measures approx. 3/4" x 1/2". Weighs approx. 1 lb. 11 oz. I lightly cleaned up the faces.
