Very nice Colonial Belgian Congo Central Africa region short sword, 63 cm, of the Luba tribe.these swords were used as a symbol of power, authority in special cases for payment. The hand forced metal tulip shape blade typical of the lubu iron work. The central grain of the blade has in the metal a incisions decoration alsop the name of the owner is incrested in the blade/kling; Bukaya. The grip/handle of the sword is made of hard wood and has a beautiful patina. The sword has a wooden ...hand carved and decorated scabbard.Measures; Lenght: 63 cm - 24, 80 inch.Age; Circa 1920-1940.Origin; Colonial Belgian Congo Central Africa (from ex Belgian private collection).Condition; In good, original, used condition, has some wear, all wear is age and use related.
