Very Rare Antique to Vintage Stiletto Low Angle Block Plane 6" long 1 3/8" Iron with Adjustable throat Similar to a Stanley No 60. Some of the older features of the Plane, it has the Lever tightener under the cap rather than on top, this feature Stanley used on their branded planes between 1886 to 1900 with Fine Cross Hatching. Also earlier is the Cast Steel iron adjustment frog, as opposed to the later folded Steel. These Features point to an earlier da...te, Patrick's Blood and Gore says that the Stanley No. 60 with a 1 3/8" iron came out in 1914 to 1950 but in fact the date is not known. This plane has been gone through, the Bed lapped Flat (it really didn't take much it was pretty refined already), alone with the sided, Polished through to 2000 grit. the iron has been flattened, and sharpened with my Veritas guide to a 25 degree angle on freshly flattened 8000 grit whetstone. The shaving are from this plane. You will see a lot of Stanley's, and other low angle block planes out there on Ebay, but you wont see many, if any Stiletto and in this condition.
