Original illustrated pioneer picture postcard postmarked 1892 in Boston, Massachusetts. The reverse side of the card has a great illustration of a telephone complete with Magneto Signal Bells. The front of the card states "National Telephone M'F'G. Co. Short Distance Telephone Mail Card."
The reverse side states: "Why do you rent a telephone?" The phones were sold by the National Telephone Mf'g. Co., 620 Atlantic Avenue, Boston. Faint handstamp on reverse side lists some customers w...ho have purchased the phone. Typewritten list of several New York customers is on the front address side of the card. See the enlarged scans.
Many small creases. There is also edge and corner wear. No pin holes. No tape. No paper loss.
Mailed to O. G. Cowles of Osceola, New York.
The card measures about 4 and one-quarter inches tall and about 7 inches wide.
