Rare postcard depicting the Cunard liner Lusitania in New York Harbor at Night. Unusual card; very pretty, with some discoloration and bumping at corners. Message handwriting difficult to read in some places, but it does mention a "brother drowned" "broke my mother's heart she was never the same" "I lost my husband and was left with four little children"......I have no idea if any of this relates to lives lost on the Lusitania.RMS Lusitania was launched by the&...nbsp;Cunard Line in 1906, at a time of fierce competition for the North Atlantic trade. In 1915, during the first World War, she was torpedoed by a German U-Boat off the coast of Ireland. Of the 1, 962 passengers and crew aboard Lusitania at the time of the sinking, 1, 191 of the people aboard the ship lost their lives on that afternoon of May 7, 1915. The sinking turned public opinion in many countries against Germany and contributed to the American entry into the War.See my 100% positive feedback under ebay names "perilonthesea" and "seasidesusandy" where I sell RMS Titanic/White Star Line books and collectibles.I accept paypal.
