The owner was Sig Sundstrom, a highly innovative entrepreneur. Sundstrom was a pioneer in early restaurant franchising. He was the first person who thought to house a pop up restaurant on the edge of shopping center parking... lots. We remember that he built a tiny fried chicken pop up place on the edge of a local shopping center parking lot by approaching the owners and creating a sub-lease. Sadly he died unexpectedly in the early 60s.
Published by Mike Roberts- note one of his earlier business logos.
We call this type of postcard "Old Chrome". Postcards from this era have a very distinctive look due to unique characteristics present at this stage of development of the litho-chrome publishing method. Coincidentally "Old Chrome" postcards from this era coincide with the few short years during WWII- before Statehood. A very nice moment in time to be knocking around in Hawaii.
