RARE
Another treasure from Br. Ron's enormous collection. I have saved this one for two reasons - one, that I have hoped that I would come across Vol I, and two, that I have been avidly reading the articles.
Original binding in 3/4 leather, banded spine with gold lettering and marbled boards. The leather is worn at corners and spine, but the binding is solid and intact. Beautiful marbled endpapers. The usual boo...kplate Ex Libris Ronald M. Goldwyn. Pages are uniformly age toned, clean and unmarked. A few plates but most are very good tissue protected engravings. Several bookmarks are laid in - they do not seem to be doing any harm so I have left them.
Commencing with Vol. II No. 1 January 1875, each "issue" of The New England Freemason consists of news, articles, "remarks", "Editorial Miscellany" (news from various Grand Jurisdictions and "Crumbs from the Editor's Table" (an assortment of short bits about deaths, installations, social functions, publications & c.).
Chock full of Masonic history, information, names, dates. Just a couple examples that struck my attention: No. 1 has a paragraph describing a convention of the Grand Lodge of the Indian Territories (sic.)( ie Native American) in the Choctaw Nation, October 1874. No XII has a featured article on the incomplete Washington Monument - see photo.
From the vast lifetime collection of the late R.W. Br Ronald M. Goldwyn. Funds from this sale support Br. Ron's widow.
