What is special about this dallah is that it includes some provenance. A letter written by an American professor Leigh Douglas who was tragically murdered in 1986 while working at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. He was documenting the Free Lebanon movement I found a NY times article with lots of information. In the 1964 letter included Mr. Douglas gifted this dallah to his friends. Interestingly, he mentions Ghana in the letter from 1964 which he ends up becoming the D...irector of the United Nations Information Center in Ghana from 1979 to 1982. He purchased this dallah at an antique shop and describes that the teapot is from Damascus, Syria. Letter is included. Dallah could be late 19th or early 20th century, obviously purchased in the 1960's. Measures 10'' tall, and 9&3/4'' from spout end to handle end Some small dents throughout the pot, larger dent near bottom on one side, typical surface wear for age and handling. This item is handmade and has typical imperfections
