antique mechanical pencil Victorian, late 1800s/early 1900s. S. Mordan design. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. We can find no hallmarks to indicate that this piece is a Mordan design or made of silver. However, Mordan was a silversmith and he created many similar designs for mechanical pencils. It is believed to be silver (but not sterling) because it cleans exactly as silver does. The pencil is 3 and 5/8 in. long, and a bit more than 1/2 ounce in weight. The slides work pe...rfectly, and the pencil has a very pretty floral-like design engraved into the body of the piece.The colored glass end cap is monogrammed with an "M" (or a "W" depending upon how it's viewed).The end cap has a few small chips around the edges.
