Postally unused, dated 1916, Rare W. R. Ross real photo postcard showing an Early View of Griffith Stadium looking out from above First Base showing the outfield, scoreboard and advertising signs in Washington, DC. Note locals from the neighborhood sitting on the outfield wall. High School Cadets are on the Field. Griffith Stadium opened in 1911. It was first called National Park and then American League Park until it was renamed for Washington Senators owner Clark... Griffith in 1923. The stadium was home to the American League Senators from 1911 through 1961. The Negro League Homestead Grays also played there in the 1940s. W. R. Ross also made some very rare real photo postcards showing the stadium under construction. I think there's about 6 different construction cards known plus the cards showing the Cadets.
