In 1865Lazarus and Isidor Straus formed the whole importing firm of L. Straus & Son.They were importers of Crockery, China and Glassware and manufacturers of lamps. L. Straus & Sons started out at 44 Warren Street and by 1885 theirshowrooms went from 42 to 48 Warren Street. They also had branch offices insuch locations as London, Paris, Berlin and Yokohama, Japan. Straus& Sons carried quality products and at one time or another they claimed tobe the sole agent’s or d...istributors for such firms as Baccarat, Edward Webb, Minton and Wedgwood. In addition to importing from others, L. Straus & Sonsproduced their own products in many European factories including Limoges Francewhere this plate was produced c.1890’s – 1910. This is a vintage LS&S Limoges plate as shown with age related wear typical of an item from this period. There is a hairline crack in the plate but it will still make for a beautiful display.
