Original program and ticket stub from May 10, 1979 when the Boston Bruins blew their chance to end the Montreal Canadiens' long standing hex over them.
After losing both the 1977 and 1978 Stanley Cup Finals to the powerful Habs, the B's seemed to have this one in the bag at the Old Forum. They had a 4-3 lead with just four minutes left, but due to Scotty Bowman's brilliant use of double shifting the dazzling and extremely dangerou...s Guy Lafleur, Boston was caught with several extra skaters on the visiting ice for far too long. Penalty at 17:26 of period three gives the power play to Montreal.
Well, most of you know the rest.......after a neat drop pass from Jacques Lemaire, The Flower fires an absolute rocket into the far corner, tying the game and the Canadiens win in overtime.
They go to the Finals to meet the overmatched Rangers, and capture their fourth straight Cup in five games.
Here we have the program and ticket stub to this historic game.
