Original Big Cabinet Photograph. Young Chilean Twins Girls in Mourning and Post Mortem. Circa 1880. The girl of the left is dead and her sister, on the right, is taking the photo with her.18x25 centimeters (7”x10” app).Some old blood stains in the photo.The photographer was José María Bravo from La Serena, Chile. Painter and photographer, active in La Serena since 1860. José María Bravo was the best-known photographic portraitist of La Serena during the 19th century. His first ...news, however, identify him as a painter in Valparaíso and Concepción, in 1856. On that occasion, he was advised as a portraitist of the brush recently arrived in Chile after having studied in Quito with the famous painter Salas. The press of Valparaíso and Concepción praised his portraits and pictures of history, highlighting the youth of Bravo, which they said had been a disciple of Monvoisin. Shortly after this news, Bravo had to incorporate the photographic portrait to the work of itinerant painter.
