In the 1960sand ‘70s, the Swan Electronics Corp. produced an accessory for all radioamateurs to measure POWER and SWR. It was designated the SWR-1. Its dimensionsare 4.5-inches wide, 2.5-inches deep, and 2.25-inches tall. Relatively small, it is capable of handling a full 1, 000 watts of RF power output. It measuresSWR from 1:1 to in excess of 3:1 from 3.5-MHz to 150-MHz. Perfect for Swan equipment collectors. It has twopanel-mounted meters flanking a sensitivity adjustment knob betw...een them. Themeters combine to show simultaneous measurement of both forward and reverserelative RF power. NOTE: it does not give a measure of absolute power, althoughit can be calibrated against a known reference and then affixing specificrelative sensitivity control adjustment positions that correspond to themeasured power levels in the various bands. This is achieved with a simplecalibration/adjustment procedure. It is fully explained in the SWR-1 manual, acopy of which is included. The POWER meter is slightly erratic when sensitivity is turned way down. This does not affect the overall performance of the SWR-1. This unit has been fully tested and operates asdesigned.
