Absolutely wonderful Scottish style panel plane with Cuban Mahogany Infills. J. McColl was very proud and protective of his plane so he stamped his name on it...a lot!The scroll on the tote is marvelous, The bun, slightly chipped, is robust. The patina is warm and deep. 14" long and the T. Ellin and Co iron is 21/2" wide tapered cast steel.. Sorby made the chip breaker. About 5 Lbs.The 19th Century produced some fine craftsmen who made their own planes after purchas...ing the irons and castings. The liveliness of this one is very special indeed. Some people prefer famous makers but others are more appreciative of individual efforts like this one. When you are not using it your attention will be called to simply admire the workmanship and grace of this one of a kind piece.
