A 1/6th. plate Daguerreotype (silver-coated copper plate mirror image of a handsome young man wearing a top hat and smoking a cigar. The tip of the cigar is colored red. Very good focus and contrast. No scratches, abrasions, or plate dings. Circular ring of tarnish as seen in my scan. No paper seals. Note from previous owner on the back of the plate. Housed in a full brown leather case in very good condition with original case spine intact. Because of the very thick glass, the ca...se does not close. Dag measures 2.75 inches by 3.25 inches.
