Umbria September 1896DATE: 1896DESCRIPTION: Menu card from the R.M.S. Umbria, one of the Cunard Line of steam/sail passenger ships in the late 19th century. At the time of her launching, she was the largest ship afloat and was one of the last... two Cunard ocean liners fitted with auxilliary sails. The Umbria operated on the Liverpool - New York route. The card measures 6.5 x 4.25 “ and is printed on heavy cardstock. One one side is a list of the breakfast items on offer for September 24, 1896. On the other side is list of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products available on board. CONDITION: Good condition. There is a 1/4" tear to one edge, which shows on both sides. There is also a 1” long closed tear on the alcohol list side. This tear does not go through to the menu side, but there is a soft crease on the menu side in the approximate area of the tear. The card has become lightly tanned, moreso along the edges. Perfectly legible. SHIPPING: Packaged weight will be under 100 grams and will be shipped via letter mail unless tracking is requested.
