2AntiqueSterling Silver Thimbles H.Muhr's Sons * Circa 1890s These antiquesterling silver thimbles are both stampedwith the H. Muhr's Sons crown logo. Onehas a double band embossed with a palmette pattern on the lower band.It isstampedwiththe size(6) and it tests sterling silver, but is not so marked. It has nopersonalization and is in excellent condition, crisp and in round withno needleholesor repairs. This thimble isshown on p. 157 (pla...te 18) of GayAnnRogers' book AmericanSilver Thimbles. The otherthimble also tests sterling and hasa paneled band with leafy designs on alternate panels. Similar Muhrthimbles are on pp. 160-161 of Gay Ann's book. Itis asize 9. It is rubbed but also in nice condition with no holesor personalization. H.Muhr's Sons madethimblesfrom 1886 until they went out of business in 1894.
