You are looking at an antique 18" back saw made for a Millers Falls Langdon style miter box between 1878-88, by Henry Disston & Sons of Philadelphia, Pa. This saw is nicely marked with the Henry Disston scroll logo on the face of the blade, but unlike newer Disston backsaws, the spine of the saw reads "Langdon Miter boxes - Millers Falls, Mass.", instead of Henry Disston. This blade sights straight and features a 1" folded steel spine for straightness and stiffness, and 12 points p...er inch for a fine cut. The plate measures 18" X 4" and is relatively sharp. The steel is clean, but does show age and some darkening from previous oxidation. The handle on the piece is apple, and has no splits or cracks, but doe show usage and light finish wear. The structure and the horns are in great shape. the handle is held tight with three brass saw nuts, one of which holds the "H. Disston & Sons - PHILAD'A" medallion, which dates the saw. Gerat for the collector or the user. I will ship via Parcel Select Mail as soon as cleared payment is received. Please ask questions before you bid, and I will answer promptly. There is a 14 day return policy if not as described. Thanks for looking.
