This is a beautiful Shoshone figure from the 30's. She is dressed in the traditional way of the Shoshone People and wears a beaded dress made from thin, brain-tanned leather. Strands of beads are wrapped around her waist and her neck. Green, black, and yellow beads adorn the top of her dress and in a strip around her knees. Her leather body has a wire inside which makes it possible to pose her a little. She has sweet beaded facial features and a separate attached nose. Her ...black hair frames her face and is braided to each side. This doll is a pair with the man Shoshone doll I am also listing. They have both been in a case and do not have a mark on them. They are not signed. This woman stands about 11" from bottom of base to the top of her head. Just a beautiful, perfect doll for a collection with rich, Shoshone cultural history and very colorful, skilled artistry. A very fine doll for a collection.
