Antique French block printed cotton/ linen Indienne type design.I adore this magnificent textile. The colors, pattern and texture are exquisite! Creamy white background with wonderful shades of pink from light to raspberry. Elements of arborescent and Indienne design.This piece is made of a medium weight cotton. With a bit of linen blend I believe given the the weight and hand. This length was part of a huge curtain panel that was hand sewn. It... has been carefully picked and the sledge edges are intact. Fabulous block printing using hand carved wooden blocks. A very labor intensive method that produced incredibly detailed textiles!Dating from 1890-1910 Perhaps a bit earlier.
Selvage edges intact. Hand stitched over on one side but intact. Approximate measurements 32.5” w x 23”
Wonderful textile with just a few light stains. Please see photos.Carefully hand washed, pressed and ready to use.
