These Destroyers were designed and planned in1945 as improvements of the Type 1936 D and E Class ships. They were to havesteam Turbines. As Wartimeconsiderations, mainly submarines were produced, and few large surface shipswere produced post 1942 This model is of TYPE 1945as ...planned. She was to be 412 feet long, 39 feet wide and of 2, 700 tons displacement, and was capable of speeds up to 42.5knots. TYPE 1945 was armed with eight 5”and four 2.2” AA guns and eight- 21” torpedo tubes and 100 mines. TYPE 1945 was to have a crew of 350 men. This model was made by the model firm ImperialHobby Productions of Wynnewood, PA. (ihphobby.tripod.com), who currently do notlist this model or scale. This model isin 1/1200 scale and is approximately 4” long. This is a waterline hull version and comes unassembled and unpainted. These are detailed scale models requiringcutting, drilling holes and assembling brass rod (included) for masts and guns (similar toFleetline models). Made for the mature collector.
