Fantastic bronzed ship captain and lighthouse lamp that I believe was made by J.B. Hirsch. The captain is metal with a bronze finish and ivorene face, and stands at the wheel, looking off into the distance. On opposite side is an alabaster lighthouse with carved detailing. The lighthouse conceals the light bulb inside and just lifts off for changing. When on, the light glows warmly through the alabaster. Base is heavy and black with felt underneath -- not sure what it's made of. Inline... switch and old plug that looks and works fine, but you might want to rewire it just because of its age.Base measures 7 3/4' x 4", ship captain stands 5 1/2" off the base and the lighthouse is 9" high.There's no maker's mark on the lamp itself but the style and materials look very similar to other J.B. Hirsch lamps and bookends I've seen. The lighthouse is marked "Italy". Good quality, well-made lamp.Great condition -- it works fine and has just a couple minor cosmetic issues -- the collar around the light bulb inside the lighthouse is slightly dinged, lighthouse has a few small dings, shown in the last photo, and the bronze finish has flaked off in a small spot on the base of the ship's wheel.Beautiful vintage nautical lamp!
