This is a Hessian Calvary Officer's sword. It has been looked at by a sword expert and confirmed as being a Hessian Calvary Officer's sword, used at the time of the Kaiser, around the turn of the last century. You don't see a lot of Hessian swords from this time period come on the market.
Beautifully constructed sword, with beautiful engraving done on the blade. Sword is approximately 37 inches long. Closer to 38 inches with the scabbard on.
The sword is in fair conditio...n (see pictures). Rusting on the scabbard. Some rusting on the blade, though it may clean up nicely for someone looking to do a fun restoration project.
