ITEM: This is a vintage old archived internegative camera negative of the Father of American Pin-up Rolf Armstrong posed with his model as he nears completion on the Brown & Bigelow Calendar Company commissioned pastel "Tell Me More", in his studio. This is a model that might have only worked with the artist for this pastel? This image is from the 1940s, and appeared as a pin-up calendar for many years in the Saint Paul Companies calendar line. This is a commercial internegative me...aning it is an original old camera negative taken from a sourced still photograph that was placed on a framing device on a table as seen in the second image below. This likely dates to the 1970s or 80s so this 40 to 50 year old negative is not as old as the 1940s when the shot was initially captured. It is our strong hunch the photograph itself no longer exists and is lost to time... This rugged image conveys a life-long career of creativity and enthusiasm for life, which he certainly lived, and hey that is an impressive collection of chalk pastels young man... This is the second of two similar negatives we are selling that we acquired several months ago from a collector in Texas that intended to write a book on Armstrong in the 1990's that never came to fruition. That said he acquired some really amazing and unique and rare images and negatives that we had not seen before in years as pin-up dealers. Measures 4" x 5" this is a camera negative the images here have been converted to positive for this listing using an Epson scanner. Guaranteed to be 100% vintage and original from Grapefruit Moon Gallery.
