Abbeville SC Carolina RPPC Real Photo Parade Postcard African Native American #3
Here is another C1915 Abbeville SC Carolina RPPC Real Photo Street Parade Fair Postcard - #3 (showing a float with a man & woman in kingly & queenly regalia with a jester (and what looks like a boy dressed as Christopher Columbus with (4) Native Americans in attendance). An African American holds the reins of the horse. The store awning just behind the ...party reads "Fancy Fruits" with the owner name evident but garbled & unreadable to me) Very well conditioned CYKO (1904-1920)
postcard, as shown.
Just one of many rare cards we are offering on eBay at this time amassed by Wayne C. Broadwell of Anderson, SC who made travelling to antique shops & flea markets in search of rare South Carolina postcards his life's hobby!!
Identified on the back in hand writing "Abbeville". Mr. Broadwell was a well known & knowledgeable history bluff who belonged to the Anderson SC Historical Society & also The Confederation of South Carolina Local Historical Societies.
He would carry the cards he found to the annual meetings to help with their identification. Please stay tuned as we will be listing 1000s of these South Carolina postcards. Much info from the Confederation of South Carolina Local Historical Societies was found in his estate paper goods.
Never post marked & or mailed it has the well photoed flaws that you see, which are few. An extremely crisp & rare photograph image. With 10X high resolution, much intricate detail is evident in this lavish street parade with the dignified leader's of the community in obvious attendance!
